A World Of Ignorance

"The Lottery" showed us what humans are capable of in an influenced society. Martin Luther King was killed because he was advocating for black rights. This caused fear in a mostly white society because they were afraid of change, and what their world would be like if blacks had more rights. In that matter they decided to take out the leader of this rights activist group because blacks were considered to be a lower life form in American society.

"The Perils of Indifference" relates to "The Lottery" in the fact that they are showing the brutality that humans put upon people in our world, and how cruel humans can be with our capability to do anything. The Holocaust, Rwandan Genocide, and the crucifixion of Jesus Christ are only the few examples of how evil people can be in our society , that they would even think of going to these extremes to try and prove that they have power. They thrive on the satisfaction of knowing that they are "almighty" and can do this to innocent people because they are trying to make themselves feel better as a society.
